uNMR-NL awarded €3.4 million to future-proof its infrastructure

The consortium has been awarded €3.4 million by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) to modernise its NMR infrastructure as part of the Upgrade call for large-scale research infrastructures. uNMR-NL nodes Utrecht, Leiden, Wageningen and Nijmegen will upgrade their instruments to future-proof and expand their infrastructure.

With this investment new multinuclear spectroscopy and imaging probes will be acquired at Wageningen and Nijmegen, including cryo-MRI and cryo-MAS probes for high and ultra-high field, for novel applications in food, environmental, energy and materials sciences. At Leiden and Utrecht, an outdated and unsupported NMR console and magnet will be upgraded to latest-generation hardware to secure and improve service to the life science community. In addition, upgrade of the IT infrastructure across the consortium will enable secure, reliable and FAIR data management.

The project is coordinated by Hugo van Ingen (UU) with node leads Evan Wenbo Zhao (RU), Camilla Terenzi (WUR) and Marcellus Ubbink (LU).
